EAA

EAAs (essential amino acids) are the nine amino acids the body cannot make and gets only from food: leucine, isoleucine, valine, lysine, methionine, phenylalanine, threonine, tryptophan and histidine. The three BCAAs are among them.

EAAs are most often sold as a flavoured drink powder. There are no authorised effect claims in the EU; compare grams of amino acids per serving and the price.

FAQ

How do EAAs differ from BCAAs?

EAAs are all nine essential amino acids; BCAAs only three of them.

Are there EAAs in protein?

How many EAAs per serving?

Usually 6–10 g. The exact figure is on the product card.

When should EAAs be drunk?

There is no fixed time; often as a drink during training.
