Taurine
Taurine is an amino sulfonic acid that the body makes and that food such as meat and fish contains. The taurine in supplements and energy drinks is made synthetically, so it comes from no animal.
Powder is the cheapest per gram and dissolves easily in water; capsules are pre-dosed, usually at 500–1000 mg. For comparison, a 250 ml can of energy drink often holds about 1000 mg.
Compare the milligrams per daily dose and the price per gram. Taurine is also found in many pre-workouts and in blends with magnesium; those are on their own shelves.
