Whey isolate
Isolate is whey protein filtered further than concentrate: 85–90 % protein, with almost no lactose or fat left. That is why it is often chosen by people sensitive to milk sugar and those wanting fewer calories per serving. The shake is thinner.
Isolate costs more than concentrate, but the difference in protein per serving is usually 2–5 g. Compare the price of one serving and the protein in it.
FAQ
Can I take isolate with lactose intolerance?
Isolate holds very little lactose and suits many sensitive people. With strict intolerance, check the ingredients on the pack.
Is isolate worth the money?
If concentrate agrees with you, the difference is small. Isolate is chosen for lactose, calories or a lighter shake.
How is isolate different from hydrolysate?
Hydrolysate is partly broken down, costs more and tastes slightly bitter. Isolate is filtered but not broken down.
Does isolate mix worse?
No, usually the opposite: isolate dissolves easily into a thinner shake.
How much protein is in a serving of isolate?
Usually 25–27 g per serving of about 30 g. The exact figure is on the product card.
